Lenten Quiet Day: Two Wells and a River
Saturday, February 17, 2018
Conference Room 179
9:00am - 1:00pm
The Rev. Ruth Pattison will lead a morning quiet day (9am-1pm) focused on WATER, which holds all the promise and discipline of our Lenten journey. Supplies will be available for art journaling, or you may make your way on foot around the church or sit in a space in silence... all as your soul leads you. Join with fellow Episcopalians to find new insight as we begin our Lenten journey together. Bring your lunch; drinks will be provided.
A message from Ruth:
"I brought water and will share it with you. Water from the Jordan River of Jesus’ Baptism, the well in Nazareth and a young Mary’s cavorting with the angel Gabriel, and Jacob’s deep cool well so famous for the woman there who talked with Jesus, midday.
Water, of all the elements, is to me the quintessential substance of Incarnation. God in the Humanity of earthen-ware jars, and the uncontainable holy one of living water. God in the humanity of a young woman’s womb and the uncontrollable holy water of birthing. God in the humanity of John with rites of baptism and the unchecked possibility of Jesus getting in the water with us.
Lent is a long journey to Easter Vigil and the sacrament of water to renew our baptism. Make a go of beginning that journey with this retreat day. "
